About Personality Questionnaires

A question that is often asked is "what determines how satisfied and effective an individual will be in one occupation as distinct from another?"

Some specific factors are clearly relevant, for example, a person's qualifications and experience.  However, few would deny that there are other less tangible factors that are equally important, for example, a person's character which is complex and made up of a number of individual traits.

Research has suggested that although we are able to adapt our behaviour to particular circumstances, there is nevertheless considerable consistency in our behaviour across situations and over time.  It is these consistencies in behaviour; which constitute the essence of most definitions of personality.

Personality Questionnaires are designed therefore, to measure a person's preference for behaving in a certain way.  Because of their nature they have no right or wrong answers
